About Us

Trail Horseman’s Society is non-profit, community-based, family-friendly organization run on the generosity, effort and commitment of volunteers.

We are the oldest, most established equestrian-focused society in the West Kootenay, playing a vibrant, integral role in the lives of equestrians since 1961.

Over the years we’ve hosted horsemanship clinics, horse shows, roping, jumping, dressage, reining, racing, gymkhanas, trail rides, fun days, BBQ’s, potlucks and yes, even the RCMP Musical Ride.

Our Grounds, located across from the Trail Regional Airport, operate on lands generously provided by Teck Metals Ltd. under a License of Occupation.

Trail Horseman’s Society respectfully acknowledges that we live, work, learn and play on the traditional territory of the Syilx, Secwépemc, Sinixt and Ktunaxa Peoples, and give gratitude to the ancestors and keepers of this land who have walked here before us. We also acknowledge the Métis families who make their home in this region.

Trail Horseman’s Society strives to create an environment that celebrates diversity and where we all feel a sense of belonging, and encourages equity, diversity and inclusion in all its activities.

Our objective is to support interest in horses and to promote equestrian activities as follows, including but not limited to:

  • Horsemanship;
  • Showmanship and sportsmanship, with no bias towards any specific discipline;
  • Education on the care, handling, enjoyment and welfare of the horse; and
  • Maintenance of the equestrian facilities used by the Trail Horseman’s Society

We achieve these objectives through the use of our facilities for programs, clinics, events and lessons in a safe, supportive, positive atmosphere.

Welcome! Join us for a great ride.
