Between the years of 1960 and 1961 Bill Smith was keen to find a grounds to call their own and they finally settled on the land where the THS is now. Teck Metals at the time (now Teck) generously donated to land for the club to use. The club was booming back then and the grounds quickly formed with arena's, barns and eventually the club house which is still there to this day. It was not uncommon for the club to boast 100 active members. There were many events that brought out hundreds of spectators to spend a fun filled day at the THS Grounds.
It was the rodeo "Queens" duty to keep a scrapbook of the many events and ongoings at the grounds and within the club. These scrapbooks still exist to this day!!
Some of the founding members included George Bloor, Bill Smith, Mac McCleod and Cy Paul.
(A big thanks to Hugh Buckley for helping me out with this!! Hugh was also involved from a young age and helped Bill Smith in his endeavours to find the lot where the THS now sits. Hugh was a young man working at Teck Metals at the time. Hugh was also THS president for a few years running in the '80's and is still involved to this day! We are lucky to have you Hugh!!)
